Mushrooms And Longevity

TreeMushroomsIn another post on this site David Wolfe talks about medicinal mushrooms, tree mushrooms. These mushrooms come from Chinese medicine and date back several thousand years.   Some of the rarest mushroom types are the most potent.

In the past only the ruling and rich classes in China could access these mushrooms but even then they were said to promote health and longevity.   Due to modern technology and transportation these mushrooms are available in health food stores, though sometimes only online, yet they are available.

Some mushrooms were so rare they were known as the Emperor’s Secret but these mushrooms are now known to promote health, vitality, and longevity.  Many of these “tree mushrooms are known to improve the immune system bringing along many health benefits including cancer fighting properties.  Studies in the UK have shown improved quality of life and better efficacy of traditional medicines when mushrooms or mushroom extracts are taken.  Check out these species:

  1. Reishi
  2. Cordyceps
  3. Agaricus Blazel
  4. Maitake
  5. Shitake
  6. Chaga
  7. Coriolus PSP & PSK

These mushrooms ave been cited as being immune boosters and are also available in extracts that can be added to juices and other drinks.

Mushrooms have also proven beneficial in fighting fatigue and for helping with cases of fibromialgia.   Some types of Hepatitis are also helped by mushrooms because of the immune system boosting properties of them.

Mushrooms are pro-biotic, unlike the familiar anti-biotic mushrooms don’t kill anything, they boost-build up.  Mushrooms restore our bodies natural balance and resistance to disease.

Even without the immune boosting properties, mushrooms are a great addition to the diet with their low calorie, high protein make up.
