Sinus Infection Treatment – Prevent Sinusitis

Sinus infections can be painful and finding a good sinus infection treatment is important.   Advanced sinus infection is known as  sinusitis and it is a painful infection that starts with post-nasal drip.  Post nasal drip happens in cold season, when the weather changes, or from allergies.

When the nasal cavities get blocked by drainage, that is mucus, bacterial growth happens.  Left undisturbed this will lead to headache, sinus infection, and sinusitis.

Preventing sinusitis and sinus headache relief then begins with keeping the sinus cavities as clean as possible.  A salt water rinse can do wonders.  Many people don’t like it at first but you will get used to it and the minor annoyance of doing the process is certainly better than a full blown case of sinusitis.

While you are at it a salt water gargle might save you some issues with sore throat.

Once a day for these things is usually preventative and more often if you have sinus drainage going on.

I love my neti pot and recommend nasal irrigation all the time! No, it’s not exactly killer party conversation but good habits w/ the sinuses can go a long way toward good health.
I am a huge believer in natural cures, and in not jumping to meds or surgery too quickly. However I must say that if things get to the “chronic” stage don’t mess around. See your doctor and then if you get a ct scan make sure you know all your options (it used to be that sinus surgery was the only option. but now there are less invasive choices like balloon sinuplasty).
That’s my two cents. Best of luck.
